G2MC Clinical Forum: Transforming the Future of Epilepsy Care Through Genomics

The G2MC Epilepsy Forum, launched in late 2024, is actively building a collaborative framework to accelerate the integration of genomic medicine into the clinical management of epilepsy worldwide. This initiative brings together clinicians, researchers, and other stakeholders from diverse geographical locations, including Sri Lanka, the USA, Switzerland, Nigeria, Chile, and Vietnam. Recent monthly meetings have focused on establishing the foundational elements for the Forum’s work, including the development of a comprehensive concept paper and the creation of a survey to understand the current landscape of clinical practices and identify key challenges and opportunities for genomic implementation in epilepsy care.
The Forum’s discussions are centered on fostering multi-country research projects, strengthening diagnostic infrastructure, and building capacity in the field of genetic epilepsy. The group is also exploring potential funding avenues and collaborations with pharmaceutical companies and patient advocacy organizations to translate genetic discoveries into tangible benefits for patients. The Epilepsy Forum provides a platform for knowledge sharing, as evidenced by presentations on epilepsy genetic clinics in various countries and discussions on innovative diagnostic technologies. G2MC members interested in contributing to this vital effort and collaborating with an international network to help shape the future of genomic medicine in epilepsy are encouraged to complete the G2MC participation form in the Membership Portal and we will get in touch with you.
